Wisconsin Corn Growers Association elects new board members, officer team

LISBON, Wis. [February 9, 2023] – The Wisconsin Corn Growers Association (WCGA) held its Board of Directors election at the WCGA Annual Meeting during the 2023 Wisconsin Corn●Soy Expo.

Mark Hoffmann was reelected to another term with the WCGA Board of Directors.  Hoffmann farms 1,200 acres of corn and soybeans with his wife, Deb, and two of his children, Lexus and Kelby near Whitewater. He has been on the board for six years, serving as president for two years.  Hoffmann was active in local town government for 22 years, serving as chairman for 13 of those years. He has also been actively involved with the local FFA Chapter.

Ben Augustine and Kevin Hoyer were elected to serve their first three-year terms as directors.

Augustine and his family farm 2,600 acres of corn, soybeans and other row crops and milk 1,100 cows in Rusk County. He was a part of the WCGA Board of Directors nine years, serving as Vice President for three. He is a current member of the NCGA Resolutions Committee and is involved with several youth organization programs throughout the county.

Hoyer along with his wife, owns and operates a corn, soybean and small grains farm just outside of West Salem. He is also an agronomist and agronomy manager at Melrose Farm Service, Melrose Wisconsin.  He is a currently involved in the La Crosse County Agricultural Society as well as Town of Hamilton Supervisor and La Crosse County Supervisor.   In the past Hoyer has served on the State Farm Service Agency Committee, past President of Wisconsin Soybean Association, past governing committee member of American Soybean Association, and past member of Field Rise Sustainability Group.

At a reorganization meeting immediately following the Annual Meeting, the WCGA Board of Directors named their 2023 officer team: Mark Hoffmann, President; Luke Goessling, Vice President; James Giese, Secretary/Treasurer. At-Large Directors include Ben Augustine, Andrea Brossard, Rick Gehrke, Kevin Hoyer, Paul Jarvis, and Doug Rebout.  Ben Huber and Loren Jesch continue as Associate Directors and Joe Lauer of UW Division of Extension as Ex-Officio.

Wisconsin Corn serves the state’s corn growers through the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board (WCPB) and Wisconsin Corn Growers Association (WCGA). The WCPB utilizes checkoff funds to develop and defend markets, fund research and provide education about corn and corn products. WCGA is a united, grassroots-driven member organization representing growers from across Wisconsin on important state and national agricultural issues in an effort to increase member profitability and opportunity.
